Terms of Reference (TOR)

Legislative Authority

It is a Standing Committee of the University Academic Council.

Purpose

The role and function of the Library Committee is to represent the interests of the library users to the Librarian, Vice-Chancellor, and Academic Council to act as a forum and to provide advice on priorities regarding library resources and services at the university.

  • Dean, Faculty of Health Sciences - Member
  • Dean, Faculty of Allied Health Sciences - Member
  • Dean, Faculty of Engineering, Science, Technology & Management - Member
  • Dean, Faculty of Liberal Arts & Human Sciences - Member
  • Dean, Faculty of Law, Politics & Governance - Member
  • Dean, Faculty of Eastern Medicine & Natural Sciences - Member
  • Dean, Faculty of Nursing & Midwifery - Member
  • Dean, Faculty of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences - Member
  • Dean, Faculty of Veterinary & Animal Sciences - Member
  • Chief Librarian - Secretary/Member

Quorum

At least 50% of the committee members will attend the meeting.

Functions

  1. Review and recommend policies and priorities for developing library systems, resources, and services to meet the university’s academic and research necessities according to modern trends to the Chief Librarian, Vice-Chancellor, and Academic Council.
  2. Advise on matters related to library budget and space allocations.
  3. Consider other issues that affect the teaching and research support provided by the library.

Frequency

At least four meetings will be held in a year.
